Joe Alleva reportedly out as LSU AD

LSU Tigers

Joe Alleva’s tenure at LSU is expected to end shortly. According to the Baton Rouge Business Report, Alleva is expected to step down (now confirmed by Pat Forde). The Baton Rouge Business Report cites “a high ranking source within the LSU system,” and it should be noted that Rolfe McCollister, that publication’s owner, is a former member of the LSU Board of Supervisors and would have the connections to know this.

This news comes just three days after Will Wade was reinstated by LSU, so the timing is no coincidence. But this is not just about Wade and how the recent allegations against the coach were handled. Several things in the last handful of years have created discord with Alleva’s tenure, including how the end of Les Miles’ tenure was handled, failing to close an agreement with Jimbo Fisher, and the Florida-LSU debacle in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew three years ago.

As noted by Dennis Dodd, Verge Ausberry will take over on an interim basis as AD, and Ausberry has a decent chance of moving into the role permanently.
