Kelvin Sampson delivered a great line during an interview with CBS reporter Tracy Wolfson in the first half of the national championship game between his Houston Cougars and the Florida Gators at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, on Monday night.
Both teams started off slowly, as Houston led 14-10 ten minutes into the game. Houston began 0/7 on three-pointers, while Florida was 0/5.
Wolfson asked Sampson about Houston’s struggles on three-pointers. The Cougars head coach said that nerves played a part in the struggles, but he also credited Florida’s defense in a humorous manner.

“It’s nerves. It’s championship night. This isn’t the middle of January against Sasquatch State. This is the national championship — there’s going to be nerves,” Sampson said.

The line was great because of the school he invented to make his point — Sasquatch State. They apparently play in the Yeti Conference. Some of their rivals include the Eastern A&M Easter Bunnies and the University of Santa Cruz Santa Clauses.
That was well played by Sampson, and his point stands.
