Louisville fans still touting 2013 national championship

Louisville Cardinals

Some supporters of Louisville are apparently still celebrating the school’s 2013 men’s basketball national championship.

The Cardinals hosted No. 1 Virginia in their regular season home finale on Thursday. Prior to the game, outside of the KFC Yum! Center was a truck with a digital sign on the side that was sponsored by Planet Fitness, according to WDRB’s Eric Crawford The sign read “National Champions 2013.”

Many of us witnessed the Cardinals defeat Michigan 82-76 in the championship game. However, the title will no longer exist for records purposes after the school was forced to vacate the championship.

A player on that title winning team, Kevin Ware, seemed defiant after the ruling was announced with part of his quote ending up on a T-shirt. Vacated or not, Louisville’s 2013 national title will not be scrubbed from memories anytime soon.
