North Carolina did it. They finally had a good game defending the three.
North Carolina beat Lipscomb 84-66 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday. Best of all for coach Roy Williams is that the Tar Heels held the Bisons to 25 percent shooting on threes (7-for-28). That was key to getting the win, especially considering how poorly they’ve done against the three all season.
Williams made reference to that in his postgame press conference.
Roy Williams: "We are the remedy for anyone who has struggled with three-point shooting all year…If you've been struggling, play us and your shooting percentage is sure to go up." https://t.co/ysqRIozqru

Williams still noted after the game that Lipscomb made a few improbable threes against them anyhow.
North Carolina entered the game ranked 330th in the country in 3-point defense. They had allowed 340 of 888 attempts (38.3 percent). If the Heels hold opponents to 25 percent on threes the rest of the way, Williams will be quite happy.
