After Friday’s Rose Bowl, a man interrupted a interview with Christian McCaffrey by repeatedly yelling “Heisman” in the background. It didn’t take long before the man became an internet meme. On Sunday, Ohio State men’s basketball head coach Thad Matta got in on the act.
Ohio State defeated Illinois 75-73 thanks in part to a career-high 27 points from junior Marc Loving, which earned him a postgame interview. During the interview, Matta crept into view behind Loving and said “Heisman” a few times before stepping aside.
The Stanford fan went about it in a pretty loud, obnoxious manner while Matta opted for a more low key approach. Different styles, yet both were effective. Well done, Thad. Well done, indeed. Props to Loving also for maintaining his composure as if his coach wasn’t behind him up to comical antics.
