200 Ohio State Fans March to Jim Tressel’s House to Support Lying to NCAA (Video)
On Saturday evening, around 200 Ohio State fans marched from the Buckeyes campus in Columbus to Jim Tressel’s house. They marched to support their former hero, the coach who resigned on Memorial Day in response to the controversy over which he presided. Here’s a sampling of what went on according to reports:
“Those in the rally cheered, sang the alma mater and held up signs that said, “You’re in Our Prayers,” “We Support You, Jim!” and “We Love You, Coach Tressel.”
“We’re going to be Buckeyes for life,” Tressel said, his arm around his wife. “What’s that old saying? Buckeye born and bred, a Buckeye ’til I’m dead.”
That’s so sweet, I almost have a tear in my eye. Here’s a video of Tressel and the crowd singing “We Don’t Give A Damn For The Whole State Of Michigan”:
Our friends at Busted Coverage have more pictures of the event in case you want to check out more. But first, a few items of commentary here.
If you’re a Buckeyes fan who enjoyed the winning under Tressel this past season, it’s difficult to be upset with him now. He didn’t report the violations because he knows the school and most fans want to win at any cost. What’s sad is that these 200-or-so fans still support Tressel, which means they support his lying and fraudulent persona. Either that, or they still believe he’s a man of integrity (equally likely).
At least you can say this about Buckeyes fans — they want to win at any cost and they don’t care if you know it. USC fans on the other hand loved Reggie Bush when he won the Heisman but hate him now that he harmed the program. At least some Ohio State fans don’t play both sides.
