Brett Hundley sounds likely to leave UCLA for NFL draft
Brett Hundley says he is likely to leave UCLA after the season to enter the NFL draft.
Hundley was a guest on “The Jim Rome Show” Monday and was asked about the chances that Saturday’s win over SC — his third in three tries — was his last time facing the Trojans.
“I think the chances (that was my last game against USC) are really high,” Hundley told Rome. “There’s a really good chance that was my last game against USC. The conversation keep coming up. I’ve got my degree. I’ve done everything I wanted to do here. I’ve left something really, truly great, and I feel good. That’s probably my last one against USC.”
Hundley was a redshirt sophomore last season and strongly considered leaving for the draft before coach Jim Mora convinced him to come back. Hundley’s decision paid off; he has improved his accuracy and passing numbers while running well and leading the Bruins to continued success.
The third year of experience as a starter has helped Hundley develop. A fourth year would be great for him, but it’s quite understandable why he would want to leave for the NFL. He is likely to be a first-round pick, so that kind of money and challenge is hard to turn down.
