Cardale Jones said Ohio State needed the magic pixie dust

Cardale Jones

Cardale Jones sent an interesting tweet while watching Ohio State play on Saturday.

Jones, like many Buckeyes fans and former players, was frustrated watching the offense sputter against Oklahoma. He tweeted that Ohio State needed “that magical pixie dust” on offense. He also tagged Tom Herman in his tweet.

Some could interpret that as Jones defending Herman against Urban Meyer.

After Texas lost to Maryland in their season opener (Herman’s debut as Texas’ coach), Herman made a remark about fairy dust.

“If we all thought that we were going to come in here and in nine months sprinkle some fairy dust on this team and think that we’ve arrived then we’re wrong,” Herman said.

Meyer was critical of Herman, his former offensive coordinator at Ohio State, for saying that.

“C’mon man. I don’t know where that came from,” Meyer told CBS Sports. “It’s like a new generation of excuse. [Herman] said, ‘I can’t rub pixie dust on this thing.’ He got a dose of reality. Maryland just scored 51 points on you.”

Meyer may have been upset in part because Herman was replacing Charlie Strong at Texas, who was previously a coordinator under Meyer at Florida.

Keep in mind that Herman was Jones’ offensive coordinator at Ohio State the year the QB went from third string to winning the national championship.
