Charlie Strong fired by Texas
The University of Texas announced on Saturday that Charlie Strong has been fired as the school’s head football coach.
In a move that was widely expected after Texas lost to Kansas a week ago and even more so when they were blown out by TCU on Friday, Texas athletic director Mike Perrin called the decision a “tough” one and thanked Strong for his three years with the program.

Strong went 16-21 in three seasons with the Longhorns. There were some rumblings that he may have been able to save his job with a strong performance against TCU, but he sealed his fate with a 31-9 loss.
Texas will likely now turn its attention to Houston coach Tom Herman, who seems like a likely candidate to take over now that LSU is expected to keep interim head coach Ed Orgeron.
Strong should be able to find another head coaching job immediately, as reports like this one show how much his players care about him. He’ll get another opportunity with a respectable program.
