Florida QB DJ Lagway carted off with concerning injury
Florida quarterback DJ Lagway suffered a concerning injury late in the first half of the Gators’ game against Georgia, and had to be carted off the field.
Lagway appeared to slip awkwardly on a run play with just over five minutes left in the second quarter of Saturday’s game at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga. The freshman appeared to be grabbing at his hamstring, and was unable to stand up and leave the field by himself.

At halftime, Florida coach Billy Napier confirmed to ABC’s Holly Rowe on air that Lagway had suffered a hamstring injury, and that it appeared to be a significant one.
Lagway had been a big source of excitement for the Gators, and that remained the case Saturday prior to the injury. Though he was just 2/6 when he left the game, one of his completions was a perfectly executed 43-yard touchdown pass, and he had also picked up 18 yards on four carries. The true freshman had helped spark a turnaround for Florida, as the Gators were 4-3 entering Saturday’s game against the second-ranked Bulldogs. Considering how much of a mess they were earlier in the season, that is quite the accomplishment.
