Georgia Bulldogs freshman quarterback D’Wan Mathis is recovering from emergency surgery he underwent on Thursday to remove a cyst from his brain.
Dawg Nation’s Mike Griffith reported on Thursday night about Mathis’ surgery. According to Griffith, Mathis, who is from Belleville, Michigan, has been having sinus issues due to the weather in Georgia. The sinus problems apparently contributed to the cyst.
Mathis’ father Terence told Griffith that the surgery was a success and his son is OK.
Mathis, a four-star recruit according to 247 Sports, was previously committed to Ohio State but changed after Justin Fields’ transfer. He went to Georgia instead and signed with the Bulldogs in December. He enrolled at the university early, joining the school in January.
