Georgia players bid QB Jacob Eason farewell as he leaves school

Jacob Eason

Former prized recruit Jacob Eason left Georgia on Sunday, leaving behind many saddened teammates.

Eason, who was one of the top recruits in the 2016 class and quarterbacked Georgia as a true freshman, lost the starting job to Jake Fromm last season. Between Fromm and the presence of incoming recruit Justin Fields, the prospects of Eason getting future playing time was dwindling.

Eason decided to leave school and has plans to transfer. He shared this farewell post on Instagram Sunday:

Last one for the classic city. Hold down the fort boys. #Dudes

Many of Eason’s Georgia teammates were bummed to see him go. Take a look at what some of them wrote on Instagram.

From tight end Isaac Nauta:

Don’t even know where to start with this one, but what a ride 10. Can’t believe you’re headed out today, because this wasn’t how we planned it or thought it was gonna be. Im going to miss the hell out of you my boy and the house ain’t gonna be the same without you in it. I’m excited for you to go ball out again and see you sling it around. Hell of a friend, and hell of a quarterback, love ya 10

Offensive lineman Hudson Reynolds:

Crazy you left this morning brethren, Athens will never be the same. We made enough memories for a lifetime and had plenty of laughs. Go ball on the west coast skindog

Former offensive lineman Sage Hardin:

Great Quarterback, great teammate, great friend, and most importantly a great person. Gonna miss you Skinny. Can’t wait to see you tear it up on the West Coast. Love ya 10

Eason, who is from Washington, is expected to transfer to Chris Petersen’s program.
