Jim Harbaugh has been the Michigan head football coach for less than 24 hours, but he’s already gotten to work on the recruiting front. Wolverines fans will be especially pleased to know that he’s trying to wrestle a recruit away from Urban Meyer’s Buckeyes and get the player back on board with Michigan.
Mike Weber is a four-star running back from Cass Tech in Detroit who originally committed to Michigan in August. Weber de-committed in November because he was disgusted while watching Michigan lose to Maryland. A few weeks later, Weber announced he was committed to Ohio State. The downward trend of the Wolverines’ program under Brady Hoke led him to de-commit, but he may be willing to reconsider his home program now that Harbaugh is the new coach.
Harbaugh is sure hoping that is the case. According to ESPN recruiting analyst Tom VanHaaren, Harbaugh already has spoken with Weber’s parents.

Switching Weber back to Michigan will not be easy.
A look at some tweets from Weber show how excited the back was to commit to the Buckeyes:
Blessed to say I have officially committed to THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY #GoBucks #BuckeyeNation pic.twitter.com/VWdO4AztCr

Hope I get to be on this show being a heisman candidate soon #GoBuckeyes

Given that Weber is a local kid who seems to like the local sports teams, his heart is probably drawn to his home school. The problem is whether he could he really de-commit a second time and go back to his original school. That would be really tough on him.
