After Saturday’s loss to Wisconsin, LSU head coach Les Miles said he would review the vicious cheap shot delivered by offensive lineman Josh Boutte. On Monday, we learned the result of the review.
Late in the fourth quarter, Tigers quarterback Brandon Harris was intercepted by D’Cota Dixon to seal the 16-14 win for the Badgers. After the play, Boutte leveled the Wisconsin safety. If you didn’t see the incident, you can here from a few angles.
Miles didn’t wait for the SEC to take disciplinary action. He did so himself, suspending Boutte for one game.
“Josh made a mistake and will serve a one game suspension because of it,” Miles said via LSU’s website. “Even though this was done by mistake, a play like this does not belong in the game of football and therefore action must be taken.
“This play does not define Josh as a person and is not indicative of the type of player he is,” he continued. “We sincerely apologize for his mistake.”
Boutte will miss next Saturday’s home game versus Jacksonville State.
