Watch: LSU athletic director takes lighthearted shot at Nick Saban
LSU has not forgotten Nick Saban departing the school for the NFL, only to land with rival Alabama three years later.
That topic came up on Wednesday, when athletic director Scott Woodward decided to take some lighthearted shots at LSU’s former coach. He said Saban “has regrets that he’s not here today,” and suggested that longtime LSU baseball coach Skip Bertman has “a higher IQ.”
LSU Athletic Director Scott Woodward on Nick Saban:
"I know that there's a guy in Alabama that has regrets that he's not here today and shame on him. But, we have one (Skip Bertman) with a higher IQ that's here today." #GeauxTigers #GeauxNation @BHollandSports pic.twitter.com/svlygUEckU

Woodward seemed to be taking his jabs lightheartedly. In the leadup to the jokes, he did note that Saban and Bertman were both “giants” in their respective sports who had coached at LSU.
Saban probably won’t take the bait publicly, especially since this doesn’t appear to be seriously meant as an insult. Considering that he can privately find motivation in places like this, though, it might not be the best idea — especially since the Tigers haven’t beaten Saban’s Crimson Tide since 2011.
