The Miami Herald can confirm that Manny Diaz has been hired by the University of Miami as its newest head coach.

Diaz, 44, has been Miami’s defensive coordinator the past three seasons. He was hired by Temple to serve as the Owls’ head coach after Geoff Collins left to become the Georgia Tech head coach.
Diaz was hired by Temple on Dec. 13 and has a $4 million buyout, according to Yahoo’s Pete Thamel.
Miami was looking for a new head coach after Mark Richt shockingly announced on Sunday he was stepping down. Bringing Diaz back will bring a quick resolution to the situation.
