Oregon doesn’t need Chip Kelly around to continue running trick plays. Mark Helfrich proved that he’s worthy of his own big balls chant after running a fake punt on 4th and 14 from inside the Ducks’ 30 early in the first quarter against UCLA on Saturday.
The TV cameras were totally faked out as were the Bruins, who allowed punt protector Rodney Hardrick to roll 66 yards up the middle on the direct snap. The play came with the Ducks down 7-0 and set them up for the tying score.
You know how people use the cliche that they could have driven a truck through a hole? Well in this case, the cliche not only applies, but you could have driven an 18-wheeler through it:
