Yuri Wright is one of the top-rated cornerback recruits in the country, but he’s turned off several colleges with a series of offensive tweets that got him expelled from his high school.
Wright’s tweets began in July and continued to January. He has since deleted his account, but the often sexual and racial messages were enough to get him expelled this week.
“He was expelled from the school for the things he had written on Twitter,” Don Bosco Prep (New Jersey) coach Greg Toal said. “It was pretty simple really, what he wrote were some graphic sex things. This is a Catholic school, things like that cannot happen. It was totally inappropriate.
“We told them about 10 or 15 times to get off (Twitter) and not to be involved in it, but there is always somebody who thinks he knows better,” Toal said of Wright. “What he wrote was pretty bad, to be honest with you, I can’t even say what he wrote.
“He was told on numerous occasions not to be Twittering and there are consequences for his actions.”
Now Wright is suffering the consequences of his behavior. His visit to Michigan was cancelled and it was not known if he would make his scheduled visit to Rutgers. Colorado, Notre Dame, and Georgia are also said to be in the mix, but they may have changed their mind.
