Watch: Sam Ehlinger says Texas is back!
Sam Ehlinger had a message that was music to Texas fans’ ears.
Ehlinger threw for 169 yards and rushed for 64 yards and three touchdowns as the Longhorns dominated Georgia 28-21 to win the Sugar Bowl on Tuesday night. The Texas quarterback was named MVP of the bowl game.
During an interview with ESPN’s Holly Rowe after the game, Ehlinger was asked whether the game would be a springboard for the future. That’s when Ehlinger told everyone that Texas was “back!”

Texas had been mired in mediocrity since the end of Mack Brown’s tenure, a far cry from their run between 2001-2009 when they won double-digit games in every season. They had three straight losing seasons under Charlie Strong before Tom Herman took over. They went 7-6 in Herman’s first season, and they finish 10-4 this season with a great bowl win.
Yup, Texas sure does seem to be back.
