Spencer Rattler’s dad sets record straight in dispute with ESPN host
The father of Spencer Rattler went on Twitter Friday to set the record straight about his son.
Rattler played at Oklahoma from 2019-2021 but was replaced by Caleb Williams as the Sooners’ starting quarterback last season. Rattler ended up leaving as a transfer. He initially had interest in transferring to Arizona State, but the Sun Devils declined his interest due to their commitment to Jayden Daniels, who indicated he was returning for 2022.
This week, Daniels opted to transfer, which has ASU fans upset because they missed out on Rattler.
Matt Barrie, an ESPN host, said on Twitter that Rattler passed on Arizona State because he wanted too much (presumably NIL money).
Rattler and his camp were asking for too much. ASU passed. Find me where I gave misinformation. I believe I said: Spencer Rattler will not attend ASU? Was I wrong?

Spencer’s father Michael responded to Barrie over Twitter.
I’m not manufacturing drama. It’s an NIL era in CFB everywhere and no one faults anyone for asking for it. I know there was interest. You ended up in a great situation in Columbia. Its win for you, Spencer, and the Gamecocks.

Michael said that Barrie was being “irresponsible” with the information he was sharing over Twitter.
ASU did not offer anything and we did not ask for anything. When you imply otherwise it is being irresponsible!

Whether it was the Rattlers who turned down Arizona State or the Sun Devils, what we know is that Rattler is now at South Carolina; Daniels is in the transfer portal; and Arizona State needs a new QB.
