Top QB recruit Spencer Rattler ineligible for rest of season due to violation
One of the most high-profile quarterback recruits in the country has been ruled ineligible for the rest of the season due to a violation.
Spencer Rattler, an Oklahoma Sooners commit, did not play in Pinnacle (Phoenix, Ariz.) High School’s game on Friday against Chaparral. His father initially said Rattler was missing the game due to a knee injury, but that turned out to be a lie.
The Arizona Republic says Rattler violated the school district code of conduct policy and will be ineligible for the rest of the regular and postseason. Pinnacle, which is 8-1, has one more game on their schedule before the playoffs. Rattler’s father says the violation is not something that will go on his son’s permanent record and that Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley knows about it.
Rattler, a senior, had thrown for 1,863 yards, 23 touchdowns and 3 interceptions in seven games according to his stats on MaxPreps. He has passed for over 11,000 yards in his high school career.
Rattler finished first at the Elite 11 quarterback camp and has been committed to Oklahoma for over a year.
