Big news about Tom Herman emerges
Tom Herman will be once again looking for a new job.
Herman has been fired as the head football coach by Florida Atlantic. The 49-year-old had gone 6-16 in two seasons as the Owls’ head coach. The news of Herman’s firing comes just days after FAU lost 18-15 in overtime to 3-7 Temple to fall to 2-8. The Owls are also 0-6 in conference play this season.
Herman had three years left on his contract and reportedly is owed around $4 million, though it’s unclear if he reached a buyout agreement with the school.
This is a major disappointment for Herman, who has completely fallen off from where he once was.
Herman was the head coach at Texas from 2017-2020 — a job he landed after going 22–4 in two seasons at Houston. He went 10-4 and won the Sugar Bowl in his second season with the Longhorns, which had people thinking he was turning things around for Texas. Instead, the program went 15-8 over the next two years, resulting in Herman’s firing and the hiring of Steve Sarkisian.
Herman spent the 2021 season with the Chicago Bears and was able to land the FAU job for the 2023 season. Now he will be looking for a new position.
