UCF received four No. 1 votes in final AP poll of season
Alabama pulled off an incredible comeback against Georgia on Monday night to capture yet another national championship, but there are still some people who feel the Tide were not the best team in the country this season. Four of those people voted in the final Associated Press poll of the year.
Of the 61 people who had a vote in the AP poll, 57 decided that Alabama earned the right to be called the nation’s No. 1 team. The other four votes went to — you guessed it — the University of Central Florida.
One writer who gave his No. 1 vote to UCF was brave enough to explain his rationale.
All right, so now that it’s over. I can say I voted UCF No. 1. I didn’t do it out of any other reason than consistency with the principals I’ve used all season. UCF beat Auburn, Auburn beat Alabama. UCF was undefeated.

UCF finished with a ranking of sixth, behind all four College Football Playoff teams and Ohio State. However, the Knights became the first team in the playoff era to not win the national championship and still receive a first-place vote.
We all know how UCF feels about the lack of respect it received this season. Head coach Scott Frost has blasted the selection committee on numerous occasions, and the Knights have been going about their business as though they won the national title. At least they can say four AP voters agreed with them.
