The UCLA Bruins are suddenly one of the most exciting teams in college football, and that had everyone thinking the same thing on Saturday.
The Bruins blew out the Michigan State Spartans 38-13 on Saturday at Spartan Stadium in East Lansing, Mich., marking the second consecutive win for a team that had started 0-4. The team’s turnaround came after head coach DeShaun Foster was fired three games into the season.
UCLA has now won two straight Big Ten games, including an upset win over Penn State, while scoring a combined 80 points over those games. They only scored 57 points in their first four losses.
The turnaround had many wondering what the Bruins were doing under Foster that made them so bad. Several people joked that Foster might not have even been holding practices.

So what exactly was DeShaun Foster doing? Did they just not practice or something? This is about as wild of a turnaround after firing a coach as I’ve ever seen.

Dawg did Deshaun Foster just not have UCLA practicing

I try and avoid hyperbole but I’m not sure there’s ever been a worse head coach than Deshaun Foster. They became a real program literally the second he was fired.

It should be noted that it was not just Foster who was sent packing by UCLA. They lost to Northwestern 17-14 after Foster’s firing, but then got rid of offensive coordinator Tino Sunseri following that performance. That paved the way for tight ends coach Jerry Neuheisel to begin calling plays, and that seems to have prompted the real turnaround, at least on offense.
Tim Skipper is currently UCLA’s interim coach, but Neuheisel is getting most of the hype. Whatever the case, the turnaround after Foster was fired is shocking, and reflects very poorly on the former head coach.
