Urban Meyer responds to Dabo Swinney’s alleged dig

Dabo Swinney’s alleged shot at Urban Meyer has officially entered into Meyer’s orbit.

Speaking with the media on Saturday, the Ohio State head coach was asked about his Clemson counterpart supposedly telling a top recruit that Meyer was on the back end of his coaching career. Meyer went on to offer this coy response, according to Bill Rabinowitz of The Columbus Dispatch.

Meyer was asked about Clemson coach Dabo Swinney claiming Meyer was on the back nine of his coaching career. He hemmed and hawed but didn't didn't bite. "Oh, I’m not (pause). I don’t speak of other coaches so I don’t worry about it."

The claim was made by 5-star offensive tackle Jackson Carman, the top recruit in question, and you can read his full remarks about Swinney and Meyer here.

Though the 53-year-old Meyer only has six more seasons of head coaching experience than the 48-year-old Swinney does, Carman ultimately committed to Clemson over Ohio State despite being from Ohio. Thus, it’s hard to argue with the results regardless of whether or not Swinney actually shaded Meyer.
