Washington player did ‘Horns Down’ gesture after scoring TD

Jalen McMillan flashes the horns down gesture

Washington wide receiver Jalen McMillan scored a touchdown during his team’s huge win over Texas on Monday night, and Longhorns fans were probably not pleased with the way he celebrated.

McMillan caught a touchdown pass from quarterback Michael Penix Jr. early in the third quarter to give Washington a 27-21 lead. He immediately flashed the “Horns Down” symbol.

That was cold.

Hook ’em Horns is a chant and hand signal for the Texas Longhorns. Those looking to mock the school and its fans often do so by reversing the hand signal and pointing their fingers down for a “Horns Down” gesture.

The Longhorns are used to seeing opposing players flash the Horns Down gesture, but it usually happens in rivalry games or games within their conference. McMillan wanted to show Texas that they can’t escape the taunt, even in the College Football Playoff. It does not sound like the SEC plans to protect the Longhorns from it next year, either.

Washington beat Texas 37-31 to advance to the CFP National Championship, where the Huskies will face Michigan.
