Florida quarterback Will Grier has been suspended for the remainder of the season — and possibly beyond — for an NCAA rules violation.
Bruce Feldman of FOX Sports is reporting that Grier tested positive for a banned substance.
The Gators have been arguably the most surprising team in the country this season, and they owe much of their success to Grier’s steady play. The redshirt freshman has Florida ranked No. 8 in the nation with a huge game coming up against No. 6 LSU. He had thrown for 1,204 yards, 10 touchdowns and just three interceptions while completing 65.8 percent of his passes.
Sophomore Treon Harris, who lost his job to Grier earlier this season, will likely take over as Florida’s starter going forward.
