49ers looking to trade WR Marquise Goodwin
Marquise Goodwin looked like a breakout star in his first season with the San Francisco 49ers in 2017, but the team is now looking to move on from the veteran wide receiver.
Niners general manager John Lynch told reporters on Monday that the team has had active discussions about trading Goodwin and gotten close to a deal on more than one occasion. It sounds possible that Goodwin could be moved before or during the NFL Draft.
#49ers GM John Lynch said there's active discussions about trading WR Marquise Goodwin. Said they have come close a couple of times to making a deal. "We'll see if something happens here."

It’s unusual for a GM to be that open about trade talks involving a player, but Lynch is more forward than most in that regard.
Goodwin signed a two-year deal with the 49ers in 2017, and they immediately rewarded him with a three-year extension after he caught 56 passes for 962 yards that year. Unfortunately, that turned out to be by far his best season with the team to date. Goodwin has battled some injuries and appeared in just nine games last season, catching 12 total passes. He had 23 catches in 11 games in 2018.
The extension Goodwin signed prior to the 2018 season was worth roughly $20 million with $10 million in guarantees. If the 49ers can’t find a trade partner for the 29-year-old, they may release him. Goodwin proved last offseason that he still has blazing speed, so perhaps a team will take a chance on his upside.
