Aaron Rodgers hilariously snubbed Davante Adams after trade to Jets
One would have expected Aaron Rodgers to have been very excited about being reunited with Davante Adams on the New York Jets. He was, but it took some effort to inform him of the trade.
A new story by Rich Cimini and Paul Gutierrez of ESPN revealed that Rodgers initially declined Adams’ call when the wide receiver called him to inform him that he was coming to New York. Adams called Rodgers with the news roughly an hour after the Jets’ 23-20 loss to the Buffalo Bills, but Rodgers, frustrated with the outcome of the game and stuck in traffic, initially declined the call.
Adams called back within an hour, and Rodgers did answer that time.
“We actually talked about the game for a good amount of time before I said anything about being on the way. … It definitely put him in a much better mood,” Adams said.
Adams moved quickly after being dealt from the Raiders to the Jets. He had custom cleats ready to go within a day, and he is already set to play Sunday night, less than a week after the deal was consummated.
Rodgers and Adams forged a memorable partnership in Green Bay that they will be hoping picks right back up with the Jets. The team is sitting at 2-4, and they really need a win.
