Adrian Peterson reportedly ‘remains a possibility’ for Raiders

Adrian Peterson

Latavius Murray has left a vacancy in the Oakland Raiders’ backfield by signing with the Minnesota Vikings, and there is some speculation that it could be filled by the man Murray is replacing in 2017.

Adam Schefter and Josina Anderson of ESPN reported on Friday that signing Adrian Peterson “remains a possibility” for the Raiders. More specifically, sources told Schefter and Anderson that Peterson likes the playoff potential in Oakland, as he wants to play for a contending team.

It seems obvious that Peterson, whose options are dwindling, would be interested in signing with the Raiders. The question is whether or not that level of interest is mutual. The belief is that Peterson is seeking too much money, and that could be one of the reasons the Seattle Seahawks decided to sign Eddie Lacy to a one-year deal instead of A.P.

Of course, the more intriguing rumor about the Raiders’ backfield now involves a certain superstar who was out of football last year. If Peterson is willing to sign a reasonable contract, he still seems like a logical fit in Oakland.
