The Carolina Panthers revealed some frightening news about quarterback Andy Dalton on Tuesday.

Carolina announced in a post to social media that Dalton and his family were involved in a car accident on Tuesday in Charlotte. The team did add though that neither Dalton nor his family were transported by medical personnel. Dalton is however being evaluated by team medical personnel, the Panthers said.

The three-time Pro Bowler Dalton, 36, is in his 14th career season with his fifth NFL team. He signed a two-year deal with the Panthers before the 2023 season and had started the last five games for Carolina after they benched Bryce Young (with the Panthers going 1-4 over that span).

Carolina will be playing Denver on the road this Sunday before returning home for the next two games. Obviously however, the greater concern is for the health and well-being of Dalton and his family. Though the Panthers’ release didn’t mention who specifically was in the car with Dalton, he has been married to his college sweetheart Jordan Jones since 2011, and they have three children together.
