Antonio Brown, chef Niko have ugly breakup
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown is one of the best players in football, and he takes what he puts into his body very seriously. For a while, Brown and the man who cooked for him seemed inseparable.
Apparently that is no longer the case.
Brown posted a photo on Snapchat earlier this week and captioned it “new chef alert.” He later noted that “Chef Niko is no longer my chef by the way.” Niko, whose full name is Nicholas Hasapoglou, shared a video of his own on social media indicating the split was not an amicable one.
“Him and I have parted ways for reasons I’m not gonna get into,” Hasapoglou said. “As of right now I’m not going to comment on why or what happened. I don’t really want to talk bad about him. I thought he was my friend — he was my boss but I thought he was my friend and that’s not the case, I guess.
“I uprooted my perfectly fine life in South Florida. I gave up my apartment and came to Pittsburgh. Now I’m left without a job.”
Niko did not provide details of what happened. While we don’t usually take an interest in the relationship between athletes and their personal chefs, USA Today published a lengthy feature just earlier this month that shed light on Niko’s battle with drug addiction and how much his life has changed since his aunt introduced him to Brown.
Those who follow Brown on Snapchat know he used to often post photos and videos of himself hanging out with Niko. Here’s one from a couple weeks ago:
Meanwhile, Brown has been busy coming up with new ways to celebrate scoring touchdowns. He hasn’t yet revealed who is now doing his cooking.
