Arden Key appreciated chance to ‘truthfully’ share his story at combine

Arden Key

The NFL Combine can be a mixed bag for prospects. Some have negative experiences there, balk at odd interview questions, and some even get into trouble. But for others, the NFL Combine provides an opportunity to meet with teams and show them your best side. For Arden Key, it sounds like the latter was the case.

Key is a controversial player entering the draft. He was a special playmaker for LSU, setting a school record with 12 sacks as a sophomore. But last season as a junior, he was limited to eight games and totaled four sacks as he came back from shoulder surgery.

One big question surrounding Key has to do with an absence from the team during the spring for personal reasons. Teams asked him about it, and that apparently went over well.

“I tell them that was my biggest adversity. I went through it and I passed it, and I’m looking forward,” Key said, via SEC Country. He also says teams responded well to his explanation.

On Sunday night, the defensive end tweeted that the was thankful to have the chance to share his story with teams.

Key is likely to be a first-round pick in April’s draft.
