Baker Mayfield is ignoring critics of his recent conduct, reminding them that sports are supposed to be competitive.
The Cleveland Browns quarterback took some criticism after he stared down former coach Hue Jackson on the sideline Saturday, with some believing it was petty and childish. Mayfield isn’t having that: he says football is a competitive sport and people should embrace it.
#Browns Baker Mayfield on media saying he's being petty on Hue stare down, etc: "I don't get why people have a problem with football being a competitive sport. You're supposed to play with passion. If people don't like it…whatever."

Mayfield originally claimed ignorance on the confrontation, but he’s come around and embraced it. There’s a good argument to be made that an attitude like his is exactly what an organization like Cleveland’s needs, and you can’t really argue with his on-field record, either. As long as it doesn’t turn into a distraction or impact his performance, there’s little harm.
