Baker Mayfield expected to be ‘fine’ despite hand injury
Baker Mayfield suffered a hand injury during Sunday’s loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers that forced him to briefly exit the game, but all signs point to him suiting up against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
Cleveland Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens told reporters on Monday that he expects Mayfield “to be fine” going forward.

Mayfield went to the locker room just before halftime after smacking his throwing hand against a Steelers player’s helmet. Plays like that have led to fractures for quarterbacks in the past, but it appears he avoided any type of serious injury. Mayfield said after the game that X-rays came back negative and his hand “got a little numb.”
The Browns probably needed to win out in order to have a chance at making the playoffs, and the best they can do now is 9-7. Still, they have a fairly easy schedule and are not eliminated. It would be a surprise if Mayfield did not play through the injury.
