Odell Beckham Jr got the last laugh in his war of words with New York Jets defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, but the Cleveland Browns star chose to take the high road after his team’s 23-3 win — sort of.
Beckham said last week that some of his Browns teammates told him Williams instructed them to injure Beckham during a preseason game in 2017. Williams, who was infamously at the center of the New Orleans Saints’ bounty scandal, denied the allegations and took exception to a reporter calling Beckham “one of the most dynamic players in the league.” Williams made it clear he doesn’t feel that way and noted that the New York Giants obviously don’t, either.
After Beckham caught six passes for 161 yards and a touchdown on Monday night, he was asked about Williams’ latest comments. He pretended he didn’t know who Williams was at first, but he then called him a “phenomenal coach.”

"Who?"

Mayfield was also asked about Williams’ shot at OBJ, and he seemed genuinely baffled.
“He said that? Jesus … Next question.”

The Browns don’t have to say much after the way they performed against the Jets, though Williams and his defense weren’t exactly put in a position to succeed. New York was down to its third-string quarterback following an early injury, so they didn’t have much to work with. Still, Beckham is unquestionably a dynamic football player. Williams was reminded of that on Monday.
