Boomer Esiason implies Geno Smith owed IK Enemkpali money
Was Geno Smith punched by IK Enemkpali because he owed his teammate money?
Smith is out 6-10 weeks after suffering a broken jaw from being punched by Enemkpali in the New York Jets’ locker room Tuesday. Former Jets quarterback and current New York media personality Boomer Esiason sent a tweet a few hours after the news was announced implying that Smith owed the rookie money.
Bottom line if you owe somebody money pay your debt. Don't be surprised if you get punched in the face if you don't.

NFL Media’s Albert Breer later reported the same:
According to a source, the Geno Smith/IK Enemkpali fight in the Jets locker room was indeed over money.

In Boomer’s version of the NFL, punches happen when players owe. It’s just like the mob. Maybe Enemkpali was getting tired of just letting the juice run and decided to handle things.
New Jets head coach Todd Bowles says the fight was due to a “personal issue” and that it was “childish.”
If Smith did in fact owe money to Enemkpali, that in no way excuses the linebacker from punching his teammate. But as we saw from reading this draft profile, Enemkapli’s behavior should not come as a huge surprise.
