Branden Albert arrested on felony charge
Branden Albert has had a rough past six or seven months, and things appear to have gotten worse for the free agent offensive linemen.
According to jail records obtained by TMZ, Albert was arrested on Wednesday in Atlanta and is facing a charge of willful obstruction of a law officer — which is a felony — and second degree criminal damage to property. The details surrounding the arrest are unclear, but TMZ notes that reports indicate the 33-year-old was involved in some sort of altercation at a jewelry store and may have been tazed. Albert remained in Fulton County Jail as of Friday morning.
Albert, the No. 15 overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs, was traded from the Miami Dolphins to the Jacksonville Jaguars prior to the 2017 season. He briefly retired before changing his mind and trying to return, but there was some drama and the Jags ended up releasing him.
Albert is a two-time Pro Bowler, but the arrest coupled with the fact that he is 33 and did not play football last season does not bode well for his NFL future.
