Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk may not have to wait very long to find a new team following his inevitable release from the San Francisco 49ers.
Aiyuk is being strongly linked to the Washington Commanders once he is cut by the 49ers. ESPN’s Nick Wagoner and John Keim both suggested that the Commanders are the most likely landing spot for Aiyuk, who is known to be close with Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels.
Wash knows how much Aiyuk wants to play here and with good friend Jayden Daniels. Aiyuk Has been working out. Peters of course was in SF. So they have insight into Aiyuk. Ideally under 10 mil on the 1 year. We’ll see. https://t.co/4cfxlQAzg8

Aiyuk and Daniels were college teammates at Arizona State, and Aiyuk has dropped hints in the past that he would be interested in playing with Daniels again. The Commanders have a need at the position and could land Aiyuk on a one-year prove-it deal.
The 49ers will cut Aiyuk after he effectively forced his way off the team less than two years after signing a new contract. He has not played in an NFL game since Oct. 20, 2024 due to a torn ACL and MCL.
When healthy, Aiyuk has shown himself to be a legitimate No. 1 wide receiver. He caught 75 passes for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns in 2023, and earned second-team All-Pro honors that year.
