Brandon Browner on Saints: I took that few millions and ran with it
The New Orleans Saints signed cornerback Brandon Browner to a three-year deal last offseason, and it turned out to be one of the worst contracts in the league. Browner was horrible all season, though he doesn’t regret how things went down.
Why? Because he pocketed a whole bunch of cash.
On Monday, Browner shared a photo of himself and Richard Sherman, who he has been reunited with in Seattle. When a Saints fan criticized him for his poor play in 2015, Browner didn’t feel like taking the high road. According to Christopher Dabe of NOLA.com, the 31-year-old wrote back that the Saints are “weak” and he “took that few millions (and) ran with it.”
That’s certainly one way of looking at it. Browner received $7.5 million guaranteed from the Saints to be one of the most frequently-torched cover corners in the league. He claims he was playing through a significant injury all season, but that doesn’t erase what happened.
Browner set a record in 2015 for most penalties from a single player in one season. He even blew up on a reporter who asked about the amount of flags that were thrown his way. It’s no surprise he is choosing to only focus on the money he made in New Orleans.
