New York Jets running back Breece Hall sent a cryptic social media post Thursday as trade rumors about him intensified.
NFL reporter Josina Anderson said Thursday that the Jets have at least explored the possibility of a trade involving Hall. Those talks have started to gain steam within the last 10 days or so.

It was quickly noted that Hall made a cryptic post on X earlier Thursday. The post consisted of the crossed fingers emoji, which some took to suggest that Hall was hoping for a trade to come to fruition.

It should be noted that Hall’s post came an hour and a half before Anderson publicly reported on the trade rumor, so this could be coincidental. Still, anything like that is bound to spark some speculation.
It does make some sense that the Jets might be exploring a Hall trade. He is entering the final year of his rookie contract and will become much more expensive if the Jets wanted to keep him. He has been good but not great for New York, and has yet to record a 1,000-yard season, though part of that may be down to the ACL tear he suffered seven games into his rookie season of 2022.
Notably, new Jets coach Aaron Glenn has also hinted at using more of a committee approach to the running back position going forward, which could reduce Hall’s role or make him expendable. That might also explain why Hall would welcome a trade, if that is what he is hinting at.

A former second-round pick in 2022, Hall rushed for 876 yards and five touchdowns for the Jets last season. He started his year very well, only to fade down the stretch. There is still upside here, but if the Jets are not inclined to give him a new contract, exploring his trade market makes a lot of sense.
