Breece Hall delivered legendary quote after Jets loss

The New York Jets fell to 0-4 with their loss to the Miami Dolphins on Monday night, and star running back Breece Hall had a very fitting way of describing how his team has played thus far in 2025.

The Jets committed three turnovers — all fumbles — in their 27-21 Week 4 loss to the Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Fla. New York’s night got off to a bad start when they went 82 yards on their opening possession, only for Braelon Allen to fumble at the 1-yard line.

That was the first of many self-inflicted wounds. Quarterback Justin Fields lost a fumble on the Jets’ second possession. Kick returner Isaiah Williams then coughed up the ball on the opening kick of the second half, and Miami recovered.

Hall was asked after the game about the manner in which the Jets lost, and he delivered a great quote.

“It’s just a tale of three out of our four losses. Teams will shoot themselves in the foot, and we come back and shoot ourselves in the head,” Hall said.

Hall also spoke about how the Jets have committed “dumb penalties” and put themselves in difficult situations on third down.

The Jets committed 13 penalties in the game, with nine coming on offense. Five of them were pre-snap penalties. They had two costly penalties on a drive while they were trailing 24-13 in the fourth quarter, which resulted in them having to punt with just over 7 minutes remaining in the game. The Dolphins came away with a field goal on the ensuing drive to essentially seal the win.

The Jets lost 30-10 to the Buffalo Bills in Week 2. They lost their other three games by a combined eight points. Many of their turnovers and penalties have been the difference in the outcome, which is why Hall is so frustrated.
