Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb suffered an injury during his team’s Week 3 game against the Chicago Bears, and many people blamed Brian Schottenheimer.
Lamb hurt his ankle when he was tackled early in the first quarter at Solider Field in Chicago, Ill. His left leg bent awkwardly underneath him as he was dragged to the turf by Bears linebacker Noah Sewell.

Lamb went into the blue medical tent and then the locker room. He later returned to the game with his ankle taped but appeared to be in significant pain.
Schottenheimer calls offensive plays for the Cowboys. The head coach was heavily criticized after Lamb got injured because Lamb took a handoff on the play. Many felt the result was a reminder of why teams should not be giving the ball to their star wide receivers out of the backfield.

Lamb is too valuable as a receiver, and Turpin too valuable as a receiver and returner. Please stop lining them up as running backs. Let your running backs run the football.

Teams often try to manufacture touches for their star players both in hopes they will make a big play and also to keep them involved. Lamb is the type of player who wants the ball in his hands, so we doubt he objected to the play call. Had Lamb run for a touchdown on the play, fans probably would have praised Schottenheimer.
