The Seattle Seahawks will have a lot of unfamiliar names and numbers patrolling the field on defense this season, but one rival coach insists the unit as a whole will look plenty familiar to fans who have watched the team during the Pete Carroll era.
Vance Joseph is preparing his Denver Broncos to open up their season against the Seahawks on Sunday, and he says Seattle’s film from the preseason looks the same other than some personnel changes.
Interesting quote today by Denver coach Vance Joseph on #Seahawks defense: "That defense is more of a culture than it is a certain player. …. As I watch the tape this year, it’s different names and numbers, but it’s the same personalities. It’s Seattle. It looks like Seattle.”

You can understand why fans are skeptical, as the Seahawks have parted ways with the backbone of their “Legion of Boom” defense. Richard Sherman is with the San Francisco 49ers, Earl Thomas continues to hold out and could still be traded, Michael Bennett plays for the Philadelphia Eagles and Kam Chancellor has retired. That’s an awful lot of change to overcome.
Carroll has already shared his thoughts on the turnover in Seattle, but we won’t know much until a handful of games are played. If Seattle’s defense somehow doesn’t take a step back, that would be very impressive.
