Bud Light won’t open Browns’ ‘victory fridge’ after tie

The Cleveland Browns did not lose on Sunday, but it’s still not quite enough to get the city its free beer.

Prior to the season, Bud Light installed a series of locked “victory fridges” in Cleveland bars. They’re stocked with beer that will be free to take, but the catch is those fridges will only be unlocked once the Browns win a football game.

It looked like the fridges wouldn’t have to wait long for use, but a blocked field goal with 12 seconds left in overtime ensured that the Browns tied against the Pittsburgh Steelers instead of a victory. That, the company says, is not quite good enough.

Cleveland. You fought hard. Unfortunately, the #BrownsVictoryFridge only opens with a W. But after that game, we doubt they'll stay locked for long.

The Browns travel to New Orleans next week to face a Saints team that surrendered 48 points against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 1. Maybe they have a chance.
