Calais Campbell injury from chop block has Cardinals fuming
The Arizona Cardinals are fuming over a chop block by the Denver Broncos that left defensive lineman Calais Campbell with a knee injury that could keep him out 2-4 weeks.
Julius Thomas went right at Campbell’s right knee with a chop block while Ryan Clady blocked Campbell up high on the play, which occurred early in the third quarter. The Broncos got a 15-yard penalty for the dirty play and had a 77-yard touchdown pass from Peyton Manning to Demaryius Thomas erased as a result.
“That was the dirtiest play I’ve seen in 37 years,” said Cardinals coach Bruce Arians after the game.
Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald was similarly ticked.
