The Atlanta Falcons’ decision to trade Matt Ryan to the Indianapolis Colts came as a surprise on Monday, even to many around the NFL. There was some sadness, too, mostly for those associated with the Falcons. Perhaps most unexpectedly, though, a lot of it came from New Orleans Saints defensive lineman Cam Jordan.

Jordan and Ryan have combined for a bit of NFL history. Jordan has sacked him 22 times in 21 games, which is an NFL record for the most sacks by one player against the same quarterback. Jordan has been well aware of this record for some time, and upon learning that Ryan was being shipped out of the NFC South, he was a little bit upset.

First, Jordan wanted to know if the Saints will face the Colts this season. The answer, unfortunately for him, is no.

Do we play the colts?!? What’s the @Saints schedule 😒👀🥺 pic.twitter.com/7HF27sza7k

Jordan followed up by saying he needs “time to process” in a hilarious follow-up that read like a breakup announcement.

Gettin all these texts from folks 😂😥 like I need time to process…I guess I’m happy for him if he’s happy.. If that’s what he wanted… and what’s best for him… @AtlantaFalcons & MATTY ICE & #Levelz are in NFL history we’ll always have that 😶 farewell to black&red #2 pic.twitter.com/zgFHahfPmA

The Colts would be on the Saints’ schedule in 2023, so if both of them stick around, they could be in line for a beautiful reunion a year from now. Until then, Jordan will have to satisfy himself by taking funny shots at other rivals instead.
