The Carolina Panthers have officially ruled Cam Newton out of Monday night’s game against Tampa Bay.
Newton, who suffered the injury in Sunday’s game against Atlanta, will give way to Derek Anderson under center.

The Panthers will be trying to avoid a 1-4 start, so this is obviously bad news. It looked very unlikely all along that he’d be ready to play, so this news does not necessarily come as a surprise, but it’s still an undeniable blow to the reigning NFC champions.
