Bidwill’s father bought the Cardinals in 1933, when they were still based in Chicago. Bidwill himself took over as co-owner in 1962 with his brother before buying the team outright in 1972. He moved the franchise from St. Louis to Arizona in 1988.
Bidwill’s two sons, Michael and Bill Jr., have served as team president and vice president, with Michael handling a lot of vital internal matters on ownership’s behalf. An arrangement like that is likely to continue now.
