Los Angeles Chargers rookie Derwin James is officially a very wealthy man after he signed a four-year deal with his new team, and the defensive back has already gotten a glimpse of the challenges that can accompany having a lot of money.
According to a report from TMZ, James and his uncle were robbed at gunpoint while they were leaving an Italian restaurant in Los Angeles last month. Two men allegedly rushed James and his uncle as they approached the 21-year-old’s Rolls Royce and demanded their jewelry, making off with James’ chain and Rolex watch.
The thieves reportedly fled to a nearby car, and James tried to go after them but realized three of his tires had been slashed. Police still have not caught the men responsible.

Believe it or not, this is the second time in roughly a year that a first-round pick has been robbed at gunpoint following the NFL Draft.
James, a former star at Florida State, was taken by the Chargers with the No. 17 overall pick.
